Finland was a weekend of totally new experiences. My pen friend, Tiina wanted to show me her usual way of life.

This was at the markets. Their friend (who was excited to tell us he has been to Brisbane) farms Salmon which he then smokes. He also brews coffee or Kahvi as they say in Finnish!
And again a little later - 6 hours daylight from around 10 to 4 in this region, this time of year!
Breakfast - the next morning
Their summer cottage and Sauna. Every house and cottage in Finland has a sauna!
This river never freezes - the current is too strong.
Tiina and Toni
Seppo, Toto, Toni and Tiina - this is the end of the driveway to their house (in the background)
The camera took this one :-)
The kids - Maija, Antti and Laura cooked a special Finnish Christmas lunch for us.
And then we headed out to their other summer cottage by the lake for a campfire. We had hot Glugi - a type of mulled juice, and sausages that tasted like Kransky and toasted marshmallows.
