We are now in Nuremberg and there are four of us. We met Susan at the train station yesterday - she had just arrived from Vienna.
So Nuremberg has a rich history with the old medieval town walls, ramparts and castle, still in place. Due to its significant history within the German Empire, it was chosen as a venue for Nazi rallies, and it also was the place for the war crime trials post World War 2.
Today I joined Jeremy and Susan on my first ever walking tour and found it really interesting. We learnt about the old town in medieval days, the architecture, the network of caves formed by linking the people's beer cellars, so they could move around in safety during the war, and how so much of the art, stained glass windows and other city treasures were saved from destruction of the bombing in WW2 by placing them deep underground in a bunker.
In addition to its history, we learnt about the famous bratwurst sausages, no bigger than a finger as they used to be sold through the town gate keyholes to the outsiders, and of course the Christmas markets, gingerbread, and wooden toys. There were many shops selling these and I was tempted to buy a gorgeous wooden house that opens up and is full of dolls and furniture (for Clementine) but it was far too big, clunky, and heavy to lug around or send.

| And again |

| The old city tower, tudor houses and bridges |
 |
| Apparently the townsfolk polluted the river with their waste, and rubbish, and also washed in it and drank it. Eeew |

| Tudor houses. The city was decimated in the war but after a 20 year recovery effort, was restored to its former glory. These tudor houses are coveted by young people apparently. |

 |
| Bay windows were used to people watch. There is usually only one on a house and when people moved, they took their bay window with them. |
 |
| Pretty old houses by the city walls. |
 |
| My first frappa-watsit. An iced coffee that Susan and I had after the tour. It was nice too. |
