This is our second to last day in Prague and with no real agenda, we headed out. We are staying on the opposite side of the river to the Old Town Square, so every day we head through the parklands and get a beautiful view of the city before heading down to it. Today we heard loud music which we thought was a big party going on, but we eventually found out was a live band singing to the runners who were completing a marathon.
We meandered through to the city and feeling the heat, stopped to have a raspberry sorbet. Yum!
We later found ourselves at the
Cafe Louvre which was a beautifully restored art deco grand house cage that used to be a popular venue for the likes of Albert Einstein and Franz Kafka.
After this we went to the Mucha Museum to learn about the amazingly prolific artist
Alphones Mucha who's work was revolutionary and is still incredibly popular. I had no idea he was from Bohemia/Czech nor that he did as much as he did. Just beautiful work and amazing to see his sketches and photos, oil paintings and designs as well as the famous posters and advertisement work he was famous for. What a talent!
The day was very warm and sunny today. We finally succumbed to the delicious smells of the many wee shops that made and sold the hot pastry like 'chimneys' and had ourselves a cinnamon apple number. It tasted a bit like the apple pies from McDonald's but much more luxurious. Very Yum.
