So sitting at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, I decided to look at Airbnb a bit further afield and found an amazing Penthouse apartment in a wee town called Kampen a little north of Amsterdam.
Three train-rides later we found ourselves in a better than expected, extremely spacious luxury apartment for half the cost of a tiny room in Amsterdam. Sorry Amsterdam, we will try and see you for a bit on our last day next week!
So Kampen.
Kampen has one of the best preserved old town centres of the Netherlands and it turns out, we are right above it. Last night and today we walked around most of it and its just beautiful. Its very quaint with some incredibly narrow streets, and not a straight line in sight. It's a bit freaky walking under ancient leaning Gothic churches that would crumble in a standard Wellington earthquake!
Today was hot! Officially it was 32 degrees which for us was toooo hot to cope with. Walking in it became a killer so we found a bike shop and hired a couple of bikes for the next three days. It stayed light til around 10pm last night and there were people out biking everywhere so we might be joining them tonight.
